The University of the Third Age (U3A) movement is a unique and exciting organisation which provides, through its U3A branches, life-enhancing and life-changing opportunities. Retired and semi-retired people come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for its own reward: the sheer joy of discovery!
Members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and the teachers learn, and there is no distinction between them. Our ALTON U3A celebrated its 20th Anniversary in August, 2013. It is part of a National organisation (The Third Age Trust) with over 950 branches throughout the country.
Membership is an enjoyable way for you to keep active both mentally and physically, and is open to retired or semi-retired people. Following payment of a fairly modest annual subscription, you are free to participate in the considerable range of classes and activities we offer - currently over 40.
As well as our classes, we also hold Monthly Meetings. These are held in the Main Hall at Alton Community Centre, commencing at 2pm. There is no admission charge and they are open to Members and Non Members.
